Helpful Definitions

Adaptation: Physical or behavioral change that allows an organism to better survive in the habitat

• Physical adaptation: Part of an organism's body that makes it better suited to survive

• Behavioral adaptation: Action of an organism that makes it better suited to survive

Habitat: The area where an organism lives, which has the 3 essential components-Food, Water, Shelter

Offspring: A plant or animal's young

pH: Scale to measure the acidity or alkalinity of a substance (how acidic or basic a substance is)

Photosynthesis: Plants creating their own food (glucose-sugar) using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide

Predator: An animal that hunts and eats another animal

Prey: An animal that is hunted and eaten by another animal

Producer: An organism that is able to make its own food (through photosynthesis)

Reproduce: To produce offspring
