Compound Machine: A machine composed of multiple simple machines
Force: External action acting on an object to make it move.
Fulcrum: The point where a lever or similar object swings or pivots.
Inclined Plane: A flat surface with one end higher than the other (like a ramp).
Lever:Rigid bar that swings on a central point called a fulcrum.
Machine: Objects that transfer energy and movement between parts in a way we can expect.
Pulley: A rope that can move across a wheel with a groove in the middle.
Screw: An inclined plane wrapped around a pole.
Simple Machine: Any of several devices with few or no moving parts that are used to modify motion in order to perform work. They can classified as: wedges, inclined planes, pulleys, screws, wheels and axels, and levers.
Wedge: A thin edge forces material apart.
Wheel (and Axle): A hoop that can spin freely around a central point.
Work: A measure of energy transfer. It occurs when an object is moved over a distance by an external action.
