DCS VIRTUAL CALMING ROOM
Need a brain break? Need a place to virtually chillax and zone out for a few minutes?
Take a moment to check out our DCS Virtual Calming Room. You will find live animal cameras, online coloring books, and visual relaxation videos, to name a few.
Cameras and Google Meet - Please encourage your student to turn on the camera on Google Meet during classes. It is difficult to know if a student is on task or is understanding the material when the camera is turned off. Google Meet is releasing a new feature to blur the background that is being pushed out through the next few days.
If your family is experiencing hardship, please see THIS FLYER with information about support available within the Dublin community.
This week students completed their Curiosity Projects and they selected a genre of their choice to share their findings in class. Students designed movies, comics, games and more to share their new knowledge. Ask your child to share something new he/she learned. We'll be continuing to work on research skills next semester as well. I hope you have a wonderful, restful holiday break. It is such a privilege working with your child each day.
We have just finished up our Passion Projects and I am so excited to share them with you. They will be posted on my site in a few days...Mrs. Eddington's Website. I hope that you take time this winter break to relax and spend time with family. I am so thankful and honored to be your child's teacher.
After having worked on standard, 6.RP.1: Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities. We will then continue to work on our ratio understanding by looking at unit rates. This will be our focus when we return back from winter break. We will also focus on Math Practice #8-Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning: In grade 6, students use repeated reasoning to understand ratios and make generalizations about patterns they observe. Students will have multiple opportunities to solve and model problems. They will then construct other examples and models that confirm generalizations.
