We've had a great week getting to know one another! We talked about the power of words and used Jamboard to reflect on quotes that inspire us. Ask your child to share his/her inspiring quote with you. We read the picture book, The Little Hummingbird and shared connections and life lessons. Next week we will be focusing on building our community of readers and writers. We will be establishing routines to record and share our thinking about reading and begin exploring ideas for our writer's notebooks.
We have enjoyed getting to know each other this week and have learned a bit more about them through a FlipGrid. We are talking about "My Reading Life" and creating a slideshow to represent it. The pandemic has forced us to think of alternative ways to "read" books so we are learning about some tools in our Independent Reading time as well. To find more specific information about our class, you can check out our Schoology page.
We've enjoyed getting to know each other, and practicing how to navigate Google Meets, Schoology and MATHia. These things will continue, as well as beginning our first module called Composing and Decomposing and Topic 1 is Factors and Area.
It has been a great week in math 7! We have spent the week establishing routines and getting to know each other. This week I've given the kids an extra five minutes to get to class, but next week I will be starting class on time. If your child is late or absent, I've posted a video (located in Schoology in the folder of today's date) about what they need to do. We are just getting our feet wet this week by playing a few math games, but we should start the content by Wednesday. The first lesson will be on circles.
Pick up your child's math workbooks at their home school if you haven't already done so from 8-3pm. We will start using them next week!
Was your child late or absent? Check the agenda and watch the daily video in Schoology!
Welcome to Math 7/8. We are working on getting everyone signed-in to Carnegie Learning and getting some math learning under way. Thanks for the patience as we navigate through these challenges. Since we are a math 7/8 course, there is no student workbook because it is a combination of both 7th and 8th grade and Carnegie doesn't have a combined workbook. However, all the info is online and students will see the same as if they had a workbook.

Hey everyone! Make sure to turn in your first assignment by Monday, August 31! Also on Monday, check out the materials in Schoology for our next project that we will discuss as a class on Tuesday, September 1st, in our Google Meet. Remember, we will always meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from here on out. If you have any questions, feel free to email me!
Hello everyone! We had a great first few days in art getting to know each other and talking about empathy. Remember to log into Schoology Monday and read through the slide deck about "Reconnecting with Nature" so you are prepared for our Google meet on Tuesday. Remember we will have Google meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from here on out. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
We had a great first week working on getting to know one another and our musical interests and goals! The seventh graders worked a four part Brazilian percussion ensemble (they did a wonderful job!) that we will continue next week, examining the cultural context and connections and its rhythm. We will continue our study of how music connects communities and cultures with songs that inspire.
Hello! I have really enjoyed to getting to know the students this week. We did some getting to know you activities, learned a body percussion game called Seven, and we discussed what our 2020 themes songs were. Next week we will focus on how music connects communities by talking about songs that inspire.
We spent the week getting to know Schoology and our classmates. Next week we will begin our exploration of minerals. To see our Daily Agenda and To Do list click HERE
Next week in science we will be going over some online safety tips. In this digital world, we want to keep our students as safe as possible.
We will be continuing to work on our 7 Wonders of the World Slide Show at the beginning of the week. Then, we will begin learning/ reviewing the continents, oceans, hemispheres, and cardinal directions.
We will be reading If the World Were a Village to get a better idea of how the world is comprised of many different people and we will take a look at what a "typical" person might be like and see how we compare. As we continue our discussion about the people that make up the world, we will explore the many factors that characterize a civilization. We will use the acronym G.R.A.P.E.S. to help us remember. See if your student can fill you in on what each letter represents. Finally, we will begin our geography lessons by exploring latitude and longitude.
