CHROME BOOK - SHUT DOWN
Please log out and SHUT DOWN your Chromebook and not just close it at least once a week.
Let it remain shut down for at least 1 hour or even better while you sleep tonight.
The shut down allows the computer to update itself so it runs more efficiently.
DCS VIRTUAL CALMING ROOM
Need a brain break? Need a place to virtually chillax and zone out for a few minutes?
Take a moment to check out our DCS Virtual Calming Room. You will find live animal cameras, online coloring books, and visual relaxation videos, to name a few.
Cameras and Google Meet - Please encourage your student to turn on the camera on Google Meet during classes. It is difficult to know if a student is on task or is understanding the material when the camera is turned off. Google Meet is releasing a new feature to blur the background that is being pushed out through the next few days.
If your family is experiencing hardship, please see THIS FLYER with information about support available within the Dublin community.
We continued analyzing how writers support claims to prepare for our argument project. We compared the author's perspective and purpose in articles and we analyzed a Ted talk to see how the speaker supported his claim. The students are choosing an argument topic and will be designing their own TED talk to share their claim and reasons.
This week we have continued to work in our book clubs having meaningful conversations about books, talking about character traits and themes. Next week, the book club students will begin work on their "one-pager" and have it completed by April 30. While some are in book clubs, others are working on an argument project. We are wrapping up our research and will begin working on our projects next week as well.
Students have been looking at opposite integers and how they are the same distance from zero. This then focuses our discussion around absolute value of a number. Students will continually revisit the meaning of absolute value, focusing on distance from 0, evaluate absolute value statements and comparing numbers using absolute values. We will then work on solving problems using absolute value statements.

This week students completed the yoga unit! The art of practicing yoga helps bring together physical and mental disciplines. Yoga helps increase flexibility, muscle strength, and body tone. Also, it helps manage stress, anxiety and keeps you relaxed. I hope every student had fun learning new poses and trying something different this week. I appreciate all the hard work and effort the students are giving me every week!
Have a safe and fun weekend! =)
