DATE: Saturday, May 1, 2021
TIME: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Community Service Day brings together volunteers of all ages to help area senior citizens, Dublin schools and non-profit organizations with spring clean up and outdoor projects. KMS MARCH PET MADNESS
Thank you all of our KMS students and staff for registering their pets and for voting.
KMS POP TAB DRIVE
Karrer MS Student Council is sponsoring our annual pop tab drive April 7, 2021 - April 21, 2021 . Please bring your pop tabs to school and place them in the boxes on the bookshelf near the front door by the main office. All pop tabs will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. Let's pull together to make a difference!
CHROME BOOK - SHUT DOWN
Please log out and SHUT DOWN your Chromebook and not just close it at least once a week.
Let it remain shut down for at least 1 hour or even better while you sleep tonight.
The shut down allows the computer to update itself so it runs more efficiently.
DCS VIRTUAL CALMING ROOM
Need a brain break? Need a place to virtually chillax and zone out for a few minutes?
Take a moment to check out our DCS Virtual Calming Room. You will find live animal cameras, online coloring books, and visual relaxation videos, to name a few.
Cameras and Google Meet - Please encourage your student to turn on the camera on Google Meet during classes. It is difficult to know if a student is on task or is understanding the material when the camera is turned off. Google Meet is releasing a new feature to blur the background that is being pushed out through the next few days.
If your family is experiencing hardship, please see THIS FLYER with information about support available within the Dublin community.
Our focus this week has been identifying an author's claim and supporting evidence. We will be analyzing how writers support claims to prepare for our argument project. We also reviewed word roots and base meanings to help us determine the meaning of unknown words. As we head into the remainder of the year, please remind your child to stay engaged in class by keeping their camera on and sharing in class discussions. Thank you for all of your support at home!
We are continuing with our book clubs and with our argument project. Students who are working on the argument project can do any of the following projects when research is completed: 1. Create a newspaper, an infographic or any other project idea they have that is pre-approved. Book clubs will end with a one-pager.
Students are building from working with rational numbers to now including them on a coordinate plane. They are working on identifying the four quadrants, identifying points, and make generalizations about points located in given quadrants. Students will continue to work on determining the distances between two points that have a common coordinate. We are also beginning to think about integers and how they relate to coordinates.
