If you have questions about a course, please contact your guidance counselor or your current teacher.
GMS - Due: Friday, March 19

KMS MARCH PET MADNESS
It is time to vote! Please check your team Schoology course for more information.
CHROME BOOK - SHUT DOWN
Please log out and SHUT DOWN your Chromebook and not just close it at least once a week.
Let it remain shut down for at least 1 hour or even better while you sleep tonight.
The shut down allows the computer to update itself so it runs more efficiently.
DCS VIRTUAL CALMING ROOM
Need a brain break? Need a place to virtually chillax and zone out for a few minutes?
Take a moment to check out our DCS Virtual Calming Room. You will find live animal cameras, online coloring books, and visual relaxation videos, to name a few.
Cameras and Google Meet - Please encourage your student to turn on the camera on Google Meet during classes. It is difficult to know if a student is on task or is understanding the material when the camera is turned off. Google Meet is releasing a new feature to blur the background that is being pushed out through the next few days.
If your family is experiencing hardship, please see THIS FLYER with information about support available within the Dublin community.
We have been focusing on vocabulary and learning about the connotation and denotation of words. As readers, we are working on strategies to use text evidence to help us understand the word's meaning in context. In writing, we are applying our understanding of connotation/denotation to our word choice in our Teen Activist Essay drafts.
What a great week talking about book choices and the beginnings of our argument projects. One of my classes is doing the argument project, two are doing book clubs, while one class is doing both argumentative projects and book clubs (not simultaneously, consecutively). We are excited to begin reading together as groups along with having guided discussions. Our argument projects kiddos are excited too to begin a possible debate amongst each other.

This week we learned about finding a media balance and about some strategic searching strategies. Next week we will be shifting gears and learning about how to spot scams online.
We finished our SMART goals and our 15 yoga poses. We will be doing yoga routines throughout the quarter so encourage your child to keep practicing their poses! We took a trip to the 90's this week and tried Tae Bo with Billy Blanks! I am excited to announce that "GMS RLA PE is taking it OUTSIDE!" Please save the date Friday, April 23rd from 5-8pm at Grizzell Middle School. We will be playing pickleball and cricket! More details for this event will be coming out soon! Go Celts!
This week we split class time between working on the Health Benefits assessment and basketball challenges. This assessment was a way for students to learn the benefits of physical activity. Students created slideshows and expressed how physical activity helps them mentally/intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially. After working on the assessments we switched gears and broke out into small groups to work on our shooting form and competed against classmates in mini shooting challenges.
