DCS VIRTUAL CALMING ROOM
Need a brain break? Need a place to virtually chillax and zone out for a few minutes?
Take a moment to check out our DCS Virtual Calming Room. You will find live animal cameras, online coloring books, and visual relaxation videos, to name a few.
Cameras and Google Meet - Please encourage your student to turn on the camera on Google Meet during classes. It is difficult to know if a student is on task or is understanding the material when the camera is turned off. Google Meet is releasing a new feature to blur the background that is being pushed out through the next few days.
If your family is experiencing hardship, please see THIS FLYER with information about support available within the Dublin community.
We studied mentor texts to identify ways writers introduce a topic. Students wrote their intro paragraph with a strong hook and their thesis statement. We'll continue to work on finding evidence to support our thesis statement as we develop our informational essays. We also introduced "March Book Madness" where students are voting on book titles. Check out your child's winning picks!
We are finishing up our unit on Teen Activists with our five paragraph essay which will be turned in next week. We will talk about citations and transition words. Next week we will learn about "March Book Madness" where students will be able to vote on their favorite picture books. We will also be working on a new set of prefixes on our Wordy Wednesday.

Our final week of Modern Literacy has come to a close. We spent the last week finishing our webpages in code.org. I love how creative and innovative everyone was in their webpage creation. It has been so much fun teaching you all this quarter.

First of all, I would like to thank you and your kids for a great third quarter! I asked the kids to give me their best effort and that is exactly what they gave me every single day. I have learned so much from them and I hope they have learned new skills from me as well!
I wanted to give the kids the chance to pick some of their favorite activities to do this week. This week's activities included: Snakes and Ladders Fitness, Fitness BINGO, yoga, kickboxing, Simon says, volleyball, soccer, basketball, corn hole, minute challenges and cardio.
