About Mrs. Ramirez

Hi! My name is Cathy Ramirez and I love being a 1st grade teacher at Maxwell Academy. This is my 9th year in the Duarte District and my 4th year teaching at Maxwell. I grew up in Northern California and I attended high school in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. I received my AA in Social Sciences. at Citrus College, my BA in Liberal Studies at Chico State and my Multiple Subject teaching credential at CSULA..

I am so inspired to be a part of the incredible team at Maxwell Academy and to be a teacher in the Duarte District! I am looking forwatrd to "Asking, Thinking and Doing" with the kids, as we explore and inquire into the world around us. Some of the topics we will be inquiring into are how our choices can impact society, how we use storytelling to communicate and express ourselves and how patterns in the natural world an be observed and used to make decisions. As America observes the Solar Eclipse the second week of school, our class will be able to explore decisions people make because of that phoenomenon. Such as adjusting our power grids to adapt to changes in solar panels. This is just one of the things we will be inquiring into as we discover new things and build our knowledge. It's going to be an exciting 2017-2018 school year.

When I am not in the classroom discovering exciting new things with my students, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my son. Together we enjoy going to soccer games, playing board games, spending time with friends, going to the beach, snorkeling and snow skiing.

Some of the things I enjoy are the different colors of blue in the ocean, fresh flowers in Spring time, drinking lemonade on a hot summer day, watching my son play soccer, and enjoying the outdoors . I love to read and I have too many favorite books to pick just one!
