Welcome to Dongshan Elementary School
Our school is located on the eastern outskirts of Yuanlin Town, nestled at the foot of the Bagua Mountain Range. It is adjacent to the renowned Baiguo Mountain Scenic Area. Behind the school lies an extensive hillside garden with verdant trees that offer a serene and pleasant atmosphere. In front of the school, there were once lush green farmlands that have gradually been replaced by upscale buildings as a result of economic development in recent years. The school district encompasses five neighborhoods: Nan-Dong, Zhong-Dong, Dong-Bei, Zhen-Xing, and Da-Feng. The residents in these areas are known for their honesty, simplicity, diligence, and hardworking spirit. Since its founding, the school has nurtured countless alumni who are now actively contributing to society and making significant achievements. They have devoted their wisdom and efforts to their families and the nation, and their successes are a source of pride and joy for the school.
In March 1918, under the efforts of local community members, the Dongshan Branch School was established. Classes began on April 1, with a four-year curriculum initially held in private homes. Later, funds for school construction were raised by individuals such as Cao Qingquan, Cao Kunshan, Jiang Qiuyang, Jiang Maotong, and Cao Yu. Most of the school land was donated by the Jiang family's Zhongde Hall, and part of it was rented from the Jiang family estate. The following year, the school became independent and was renamed Dongshan Public School, with the curriculum extended to six years. The first principal was the Japanese national, Jiu Xun Qizhisuke. At that time, there were three faculty members and a single class of 43 students. After Taiwan's liberation, the first principal was Mr. Jiang Wenzhou, and the school was renamed Yuanlin Town Dongshan Elementary School.
