Dallas School District established a parallel cyber school in 2011; over the past decade, hundreds of Dallas students have actively engaged in a cyber format for their personal learning. Students enrolled in Dallas Cyber School (DCS) are considered Dallas students - with the same standing in all aspects with their peers attending classes on campus. The DCS asynchronous platform permits registered students to learn while off campus without the structures of a traditional school experience. DCS students engage in the same district-approved curriculum that students use in the traditional “brick and mortar” schools. Teachers-of-record, utilizing the Edgenuity or CompassLearning Odyssey platforms, customize learning to meet the needs of each child, and integrate dynamic and interactive experiences for students in the program. Dallas Cyber School students are monitored on a daily basis to help ensure their success and promote collaborative communication with parents and families.
Dallas students enrolled in DCS are counted in class rank, eligible for honor roll, and considered for membership in the National Honor Society. Students can apply for post-secondary scholarships, participate in PIAA athletics and join in a variety of school-sponsored clubs and organizations. Similar to the campus setting, special education accommodations and therapeutic services are available. While all Dallas programming can be tailored to meet the needs of all students, our Cyber School option is most effective as a year-long commitment. Over the past several years, students have earned the same Dallas School District Diploma from both Dallas High School and Dallas Cyber School.
