Dear St. Patrick’s Parishioner’s,
For nearly twenty years, the St. Patrick’s Annual Golf Outing & Dinner Dance has been the unofficial kickoff to Spring and nice weather. It has been an occasion that has brought our community together while also functioning as a keystone fundraiser for the school. With the recent success of the Shamrock Ball, our Spring calendar has become quite crowed. It is with this in mind that I have decided to move the Golf Outing & Dinner Dance to become the St. Patrick’s Golf & Dance Fall Classic. As both events are fundraisers as well as social gatherings, too many families had to choose one over the other due to either time or monetary constraints. Hopefully, by spreading out the events, more families will be able to attend both without burden.
With the Golf Outing & Dinner Dance moving to become the Fall Classic, I have decided to have a modified Golf Outing this May 13th to act as a bridge to our traditional Golf & Dance event. We did not want to have an eighteen-month gap between the May 2018 event and the October 2019 Fall Classic, so instead of canceling our traditional spring outing, we will have a more golf-centered day out on the links. This Spring Golf Outing will be held at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course in Woodbury on Monday, May 13th. We will be dropping the cost of golf from $450 per golfer to $250 per golfer. More information on this event is available at: facebook.com/stpatsgolfandtennis. Also, we will no longer be having an event honoree. Going forward, will we be presenting The Tim McGovern Community Leadership Award. This award will be presented to families that serve our parish and school community in a manner best exemplified by our friend Tim. The inaugural recipients of the award will be the McGovern Family, featuring Theresa, Maggie and Joe.
Msgr. Steven R. Camp
