Chinese Lanterns and/or scrolls for the New Year

Description:

Discuss the history of the Chinese New Year, its symbols, traditions, and the Chinese Calendar. Children to create their own Chinese lantern. Have them think about ways to spend time with their family and write them down on each strip of the lantern. Decorate the lanterns with glitter and markers.

Materials Needed:

Red, yellow and green construction paper, rulers, scissors, glue, glitter, fortune cookie for each student (optional)
