For our first project in 9th grade literature, we created an Empathy Collage to make a connection between a character in the Odyssey and a person in the modern world. Our collage compared struggles from fosterkids and, juvinille kids to telemaucus who struggled without a dad.
In the Odyssey, when Odysseus does not come home from the Trojan war, suitors begin moving into his home to try to woo his wife. Telemachus wasn't please. He even went to search for him to bring him back and he couldnt really help his mom.
I say this becuase telemachus was strugling , he was looking for his dad,and the suiters were all over his mom . He wwent to look for his dad for hias mom. He also went to get the suiters out his house.
Like telemachus boys in America are struggling a lot with their dads. Juivinille kids struggle becuase thier dad may not come visit them enogh becuase he's mad or dissapointed in his self for failing his son. Fosterkids donteven have parents.
In class we studied states and we used the acronym SPEED to learn about issues in the states. SPEED represents Social, Political, Environment, Economics, and Demographics. By using the lens of SPEED we were able to gain more information and insight into issues that affected assign states. We used the hummingbird robotics to animate various elements related to SPEED.
Our map is a creative representation of Louisiana. We used pictures and pasted them on the state. I used these pictures so you can understand the culture of Louisiana better. Such as the red stick we used . We used a picture of a red stick because red stick in french means baton rouge, and baton rouge is the capital in Louisiana. We also put a tri-Led light in the middle of the word "Louisiana". we also used a motor to make a picture of money rotate in a full circle. Lastly we used a Servo and made a picture of sea food and made it rotate back and forth in a rotation of half a circle
