I think mandalas show up in different cultures to represent their own beliefs and views on the universe. For this project, I adapted the mandala to represent things important to me using symbols like happy faces and nature themes to represent tranquility. I also included a version of yin and yang because it represents balance which I highly value. This mandala shows principles of design by showcasing patterns, colors, and repetition. Things that went well with this project was creating our designs and putting them together to hang up. Something I think was difficult was coordinating partner work. Some things that changed was who we were working with and colors we decided to use.
For this project, we had to create a collage of materials and combine them to create the word "ChemVAS". Some new tools I learned to use how to copy and paste images in Sketchpad, along with how to ensure images have transparent backgrounds. I used the spirograph tool in my background to show texture and depth in my typography assignment. Something I like about this assignment is that it helps you learn what materials you will use in chemistry and visual arts. Something I dislike about this assignment is that the copy and pasting can get tedious, and the result can be messy. In the future, I can use these tools to create art and visualize my ideas.
This assignment was to show creative ways of representing data in experiments. We used different elements of art and principles of design to represent different percentages, such as value, color, variety, etc. This is how the assignments relate to visual arts. Along with this, the assignment relates to chemistry because it practices the experimental design procedures. Firstly, we were asked the question of how common skittle colors were, along with what skittles colors represented certain emotions. Then, we made a hypothesis of what others responded with. Next, we went through the procedure of answering what colors coordinated with certain emojis. Next, we collected data and created graphs based off of it. Lastly, we came to conclusions on what the majority of people think.
