8/4 Sample Task
Brief/
Introduction
Today, we are building unique wooden phone holders in class. We will be using a Band Saw and a Nail Gun to sculpt our piece. There are many safety precautions when using a bandsaw and nail gun. For the bandsaw, your fingers should never be in the line of the blade and you need to always where glasses. For the nail gun, you should always make sure that the nail gun is placed flat with whatever surface you are using and to prepare for the kick back.
Research
I researched several designs that have been made and I am designing my holder from a combination of those designs.
Early Stages
Our group consists of Landon Calbert, Titus Smith. Panselle Range, Penny Dunn, Michael Rashad, and Timothy Whitaker.
The jobs we assigned were:
Leader: Landon
Cutting the wood: Timothy and Panselle
Nail Gun: Penny, Titus, and Michael
Prototype
This is our rough draft.
Challenges
We had several challenges along the way. The first problem we ran into was properly securing the swing set. We had to add platforms for each support beam to be on. The second challenge was making the swing set realistic. What I mean by that is having the "swing" on the swing set hollow. It wasn't easy to cut on the band saw, but with careful woodwork and time, we were able to pull it off.
After we researched and decided the jobs, we got to work. after three classes, we finished our final product. Our swing set phone holder.
9/18 Building Task
For this project we were tasked to create a wooden box using these types of machines.
We first designed the layout of our box, putting into consideration the lengths of our pieces of wood. Once we had the layout of the box and the length & width of each piece of wood. We took a 2x4 piece of wood and took it through a miter saw, planer saw, table saw, and band saw. Once we had our pieces, we pre-planned what the box would look like.
This is our vision of what the box would look like. So far, we have the bottom and four walls.
Safety Information

Use your hands
Put too much
Eat it
Purpose:
Fill in cracks
Made out of:
Wood putty is made out of wood glue and saw dust.
This is my box after the wood putty was applied. I then sanded it down to make it neat.

To turn you piece of wood different colors.
Finally, I added hinges to the box. This is the completed verison of the box.
Infinity Table Project
This code was used to make the 3 light and 6 light traffic light project.
The three light project required a pico board, Mu editor, a usb cord, female-female cords, lights, and various lines of code.
Elements of the event will be rehearsed after school on Thursday,
April 18th from 4:30 to 6:30. (Get Community Service Hours)
BRIEF: The goal is to create a laser cut/scroll saw bowl that is an inspired kinetic sculptures. The theme for this project is GROWTH. When I think of growth I think of something evolving and adapting. The deadline is Friday, April 19th (Please complete BEFORE the day of Space is The New Place)

DEADLINE: Wednesday, May 8th, 2024 at 11:25am
Teacher Appreciation Week is slowly but surely approaching! We are tasked to create a wooden object that will show our appreciation. We will brainstorm, design, then create the object that we will be making.
Personalized Pen Holder
People need places to hold their stuff, so this wood (pun) be very helpful
Apple Personalized Pen Holder
The same as the last one, but its an apple
Card Holder
So people can hold their business, credit, or debit cards.
Insipring Plaque
So people can start off the day feeling good.
I combined two or more ideas to create my design of my gift. It will be a sign saying I can & I will, watch me. It will also be able to hang on things using a rope that will be attached.
Color: Light brown and white.
Dimensions: 1 foot, 2in, 0.25in
This was the design for the front of the sign. It is a motivational message for my mother.
This is it 3D printed out on the piece of wood. I plan to stain and trace the words.
On the back it has "MOM". Its to show who made it for her and its going to remind her of me.
