In this assignment, I made ink using soot, rubbing alcohol, and Arabic gum. First, I burned a spoon over a candle to create soot. Then, I used a brush to put the soot in a cup. I repeated this process until I had enough soot to make a decent amount of ink. After, I put some Arabic gum and a pipette of rubbing alchohol. I mixed everthing together and used it to paint a small picture. This process demonstrated combustion, which we are learning in chemistry.
I created paper for this assignment by upcycling paper we previously used in our class. My group members and I used scraps of colored paper and combined them in a blender with water. We then poured the mixture into a tray of water and used a screen to create the paper, and then dried it using a towel.
For this assignment, I dyed a piece of white cloth with all natural dye created using red cabbage. First, I boiled a pot of water, then added in the chopped up red cabbage and mixed it until the water turned purple. Then I added some vinegar to make the mixture more acidic, creating a more warm toned color. I wet the cloth and submerged it in the mixture for several minutes. After, I wringed it out and used more vinegar to paint designs on it.
I created this ink painting using the broken brush technique. I started with the darker part using the foreground being the trees and the grass, then when the brush dried I used it from the middle ground. Next I dipped the brush in water added more to the mountains in the background and the clouds. I tried to prioritize texture and values so the painting looks diverse and full of depth.
For this assignment, I wove together paper of two different colors to creating a heart basket. This assignment ties back to the last assignment, where the heart baskets symbolize covalent bonds, since the two different colors of paper can represent two separate atoms that are bonded by sharing rather than stealing.
For this assignment, we wove together paper of two different colors to represent an atom. I worked with a partner, and we both chose opposite colors and kept our paper separate to symbolize ionic bonds, where electrons are transferred rather than shared. This contrasts with covalent bonds, where sharing would have been represented by combining pieces of paper. The distinct colors emphasize the individuality of each atom in the ionic bond, creating a clear visual representation of the concept.
In this project, I combined the STEAM subjects science and art in order to create the piece. As a researched for this assignment, I learned more about the element Phosphorus regarding its uses as well as it's chemical and physical properties. I was creative in the way I transformed the element symbol 'P' into a flower, referencing that phosphorus is used in the production plant fertilizer. My artwork depicts a flower from the letter 'P' and its roots in the soil. The background is a cloudy, blue and purple sky with the atomic number and element name floating above. The elements of art I incorporated in my piece were color and texture, as I included vibrant colors and shaded my piece to emphasize the variety of textures such as the soil and clouds. As far as the principles of design, I used unity and proportion to make my piece cohesive, even though it contains various components.
In today's class, first I took a No Red Ink growth quiz that showed my growth on recent topics I had been studying in World Literature. After, me and my group started recording scene 3 for the Shaping Our World film project. We plan on finishing the rest of the scenes in the next class.

I believe that cultural and historical contexts have greatly shaped scientific discoveries in making the periodic table due to the environmental factors and the development of Europe. All of the chemists who's discoveries and ideas were used in the periodic table were European men. This is due to the fact that Europe was the one the most intellectually developed continents at the the time. The availability of education to European men was much larger than European women, as well as people from different parts of the world. If people of different demographics made scientific discoveries that contributed to the periodic table, there most likely would've been cultural influences such as a different naming system from different languages, and a different way of organizing the elements
In today's class, first I took a Membean (vocabulary practice website) quiz that tested my knowledge on recent words I had been studying. After, me and my group started recording scene 2 for the Shaping Our World film project. We plan on finishing the rest of the scene in the next 2 classes, and then editing our movie in the following class.
The term “mandala” comes from Sanskrit, meaning “circle.” It first appeared in India in the Hindu text, the Rig Veda. Mandalas are used in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism for meditation, spiritual guidance, and rituals. They represent the universe. Mandalas symbolize unity, wholeness, and cosmic order, concepts that resonate across various cultures. Repeated shapes and motifs create harmony. Mandalas incorporate the principles of deign color and pattern.
In today's class, improve actors from Dad's Garage taught us more about acting in preparation for filming our video's for the Shaping Our World project. We did lots of character exercises and learning how to act in a natural way.
In today's class, me and my group members worked on a flyer for our film PBL, highlighted the indirect and direct characterization, and the compound and complex sentences. We also worked on our costume to start filming next class period.
I today's class, me and my group members for the Shaping Our World film project worked together to write the next 2 scenes of our script on Ancient China, as well as revise the previous scene we wrote. We fleshed out the characters more as the plot began to build up to the story to the climax of the story.
For this assignment, my group and I created a Plot diagram to sketch out the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution, and conflict of our short story. We created our own story, but still incorporated elements of Ancient Chinese History into it. We decided to make our story surrounding the conflicts between the different religions that existed during the Ancient Chinese Dynasties.
In this contract, me and my teammates for the Shaping Our World film project made an agreement to follow the terms of this contract. We agreed to listen to each others ideas, try our best on our work, have good time management, and ask for help if we need it. Making these promises to each other will help the process of creating the project go by easier, as well as improve trust between team members.
In this chart, we used the acronym "G.R.A.P.E.S." to write out our information about Ancient China to use in our film. We described the geography, religion, achievements, politics, economics and society of our ancient civilization in order to form ideas regarding the plot of our short film. We using this information to help us brainstorm potential characters and plots.
Art means a lot me in my academic and my personal life. I would define art as self expression presented in a creative way. Painting, drawing, photography, film, digital art, sculpture, etc. are all popular visual art forms. I think art is specifically expressing things creatively, not doing something random like taping a banana to a wall an adding a meaning to it after the fact. Art can be strongly connected to English and history. Literature is an art form because it expresses deep meaning with creative words/wording. Literature, sculptures, and print are all forms of art that are present in ancient history.
