Reflecting on Injustice Gordon Parks
This picture is a replica of one of Gordon Parks' famous photographs, showing a powerful scene where a man is being thoroughly searched by the police. The original image was taken during a time when Black individuals faced widespread discrimination and injustice, making it deeply meaningful. To capture the same mood, I added a grainy black-and-white filter to give the replica the raw, unsettling atmosphere of that era. The stark monochrome tones emphasize the seriousness of the moment, highlighting the struggles and inequalities of the time. This image is meant to inspire reflection on the importance of justice, equality, and the ongoing fight against social injustice, keeping the conversation alive and pushing for meaningful change.
A Blend of Modern Design and Natural Beauty Architecture
This is a picture of the side of my school, and I love it because it combines modern design with beautiful nature. The building has a sleek, modern look with clean lines and big windows that let in lots of natural light. Around the school, there are tall trees and green grass that make the area peaceful and welcoming. The trees also provide shade, creating a calm and relaxing space. The way the building blends with the natural surroundings makes the school a special place to learn. It’s both stylish and full of life, which inspires creativity and makes learning feel enjoyable.
The Light of Learning Conceptual Photography
This picture shows a girl sitting on a stack of books, completely absorbed in one of them. It symbolizes how learning and knowledge can guide and inspire us, lighting the way to a brighter and more promising future. The light streaming in from behind her emphasizes this idea, creating a warm, hopeful glow that suggests the possibilities that come with gaining knowledge. To create the effect of the girl sitting on the books, the books were carefully placed slightly forward, and the photo was taken from a specific angle. This thoughtful arrangement enhances the image’s impact and reinforces the central theme of enlightenment and the transformative power of learning.
For our final assignment in Photography, we created a slideshow called “Eye Talk,” where we shared and reflected on our favorite photos from throughout the year. In my presentation, I chose the images that I felt had the most meaning and showed how much I’ve grown as a photographer. I also talked about what photography means to me and how it has helped me express myself in new ways.
In our Photography class, we completed a project called Shattering Stigmas, where we photographed individuals living with HIV and AIDS. I had the opportunity to photograph and interview two people, Claude and Miss Kennedy. Hearing their stories about the challenges they’ve faced was a powerful and eye-opening experience. Despite the difficulties, both Claude and Miss Kennedy continue to persevere and live life fully. This project taught me that no matter what struggles someone faces, it’s possible to maintain hope and a positive outlook on life.
