The goal of this project was to explore the Columbian Exchange and its impact through different subjects, blending history, art, and design. The assignments across the classes were connected by the theme of how the exchange of goods, foods, and ideas shaped the world. In art class, I created a table setting that reflected the items exchanged between the Old and New Worlds, like foods, spices, and artifacts. I decided to focus on a table setting because it symbolized how these items were brought together in everyday life. My process included researching the foods and objects exchanged, sketching ideas, and then building a 3D representation of the setting using a mix of materials.
