Being part of the Step Up mentoring program at Drew Charter School has been a transformative experience for me. Through this program, I had the opportunity to explore various career paths, which helped me gain a clearer understanding of my future aspirations. The weekly sessions focused on social-emotional learning, financial literacy, and mental health, equipping me with essential life skills. One of the most impactful aspects was the mentorship I received. Having a mentor to guide me through challenges and celebrate my successes made me feel supported and empowered. This program not only prepared me for life after high school but also instilled in me the confidence to pursue my goals with determination.
Being Fashion Club Queen for Homecoming was amazing! At first, I felt nervous because I wasn’t sure if I could do it, but my friends and the club made me feel supported the whole time. It was fun helping pick out the outfits and getting ready for the big day. When I walked in the Homecoming pep rally and coronation, I felt proud of myself. It was exciting to see everyone cheering for me. This experience showed me that I can be confident and take on new challenges, even when I feel nervous at first.
Running cross country has been an incredible experience for me. At first, I was nervous because I wasn’t sure if I could keep up with the team, but as the season went on, I got stronger and faster. I learned that cross country isn’t just about running, but about pushing through tough moments and not giving up. I really enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment after each race, even if I didn’t finish in first place. Being part of the team taught me about perseverance, teamwork, and setting goals. It also helped me build my confidence both on and off the track.
