Deconstruction (2019)
For this project, we took 3-D shapes and deconstructed them. To deconstruct means to cut out of take apart an object. We then shaded the shapes with different art pencils to get a gradient of color. My favorite part of this project was the shading because it was satisfying to see all the colors come into place from dark to light.
Grease (2019)
This project is a shadow box. I used card stock paper to show depth and tell a story by cutting out certain parts of the paper and stacking them. I then add lights and make it light up in certain places to add detail. My shadow box consisted of monochromatic blue colors to create a sky scenery. The darkest blue is going to flow getting lighter and lighter as the viewer looks back to add more meaning to the piece. I love to re-create nostalgic pieces and stories that could have been real or did happen. Even though drive-in movies still are around, they are not as popular as they were back in the days. You would go there on a date, with friends, or simply just to hang out and it meant something to some people. I used to wish that I was grew up in the 80’s or 90’s because the trends and life was different from modern day. That was my main inspiration and incorporates one of my favorite movies “Grease”.
Self Portrait (2019)
This is a self portrait of an edited photo. I used a warm color scheme with the lightest color as yellow. The challenge to this project was that I used a draw-by-grid technique which took the picture and divided it up into sections to draw. Although it was tedious, it turned out well and I am very proud of my work.
Pikachu and Stingray (2018)
For this project, we were tasked with creating a tessellation from drawings that we scanned digitally. We then used photo shop to copy and paste the drawings in a pattern like order. The hardest about this piece was the digital aspect. You had to be very patient to make sure that each tessellation was put together perfect. What I learned about this project was how digital technology can help create or enhance art.
"Ojos De Dios" (2018)
For the first project of the year, we had to create this fiber piece call "Ojos de Dios". This translates to eye or god referring to a term that was used for religious purposes. Made of yarn and sticks, "ojos de dios" are paced on alters in church and are seen as a way of god watching the people or looking down on them from it. The hardest part of this project had to be making sure each of your yarn was secure and in the way the pat tern followed because one mistake can affect the whole piece.
"Broken Promises" (2018)
For this project, we used line art to depict an image. We were exploring the elements with this project. The most challenging part of this project was sketching the hands. The hands were the hardest to sketch because my pose was so intricate. What I learned from this project was how lines are incorporated into everyday art and how to make different illusions through the lines.
