Artistic Idol Independent Project

For this project, I chose the artist Özdemir Altan because I really liked how he uses bright colors, bold symbols, and interesting textures to express emotions and ideas. His art feels chaotic but meaningful, and that inspired me to create a collage using symbols like hearts, mushrooms, eyes, and a cross. Each one represents different thoughts and feelings, and I arranged them in a way that felt a little wild but still balanced. I used a black background to make the colors stand out more and give the piece a dramatic look, kind of like how Altan uses contrast in his work. I also added the number “555” because it’s a spiritual number that means change, which I thought fit the theme of emotions and transformation. Overall, I wanted my artwork to show a mix of feelings using color, texture, and symbols, just like Altan does in his unique style.

Food for thought: Final Exam project

For this project, we had to make pottery related to the Columbian Exchange. We could’ve made different foods or anything connected to the topic. Our group chose to focus on how people stored and carried food during that time. We made several different pieces that showed the kinds of containers they might have used for travel or storage. Our goal was to show how important food storage was during the Columbian Exchange and how it helped people move and trade food between different parts of the world.

Guernica Project One Love 2024

The Guernica Project:

For our Guernica project, we chose domestic violence as our topic because it's a serious issue that affects many people. Inspired by Picasso’s Guernica, we used dark colors and twisted shapes to show the pain, fear, and chaos that come with abuse. The figures in our painting look scared or hurt, and the jagged lines help show how broken and intense the situation is. Our goal was to spread awareness and make people feel the emotional impact of domestic violence, while encouraging others to speak out and support those affected.
