In American Literature we have been studying Native American Mythology. Some examples of myths would be "The World on a Turtle's Back" by the Iroquois, and Coyote Stories from the Okanogan tribes. We learned about the basic blueprint of creation myths which is the use of archetypes, such as the Trickster, and techniques such as anthropomorphism.
To show what we learned we had to create our own myth based on how things are created. I chose to show how life on earth was created. My story starts off with a god creating a race of celestial beings. Those beings then went to war on whether they should follow their creator or experiement with the planets surrounding them. This war caused the race to almost go extinct. One celestial had an idea to trick the enemy into thinking he was their god. It backfired causeing him to flee to earth. His injuries caused his blood to flow through the earth and mix to make living organisms.
To help I took pictures to represent certain things in my myth. I also added music that matched the theme of my story. Overall I am really happy with my story. Its something Im proud to represent.
Here we had to read a poem over a guitar score that I created. my partner was Caylee Nunnally and although we had no experience, we made it work.
