DRIVING QUESTION
How can art, like Picasso’s Guernica, be used to creatively express the impact of societal conflict and promote activism?
Art like Picasso’s Guernica can show the pain and chaos caused by war and conflict in a powerful way. Instead of just using words, artists use images, colors, and shapes to make people feel something. Guernica, for example, shows the horror of a bombing during the Spanish Civil War. Even if someone doesn’t know the history, they can still feel the fear and suffering in the painting. This kind of art can inspire people to speak out, ask questions, and take action against violence or injustice. It’s a creative way to get people to care and make a change.
CHEMVAS ART
For our artists statement video, we were supposed to be on camera, each person have a part and be in our full uniform. Our artists statement was made in order for us to explain our chosen conflict, why it matters and how people can create a change with his conflict.
Our Artist Statement Video/Script connects to our Guernica project by boldly highlighting the serious issue of gun violence, a conflict that affects many lives today. In Art class, we explored major global problems, and Norah, Larry, Cameron, and I chose gun violence to create a powerful propaganda piece that grabs attention, spreads awareness, and pushes for change. Our artwork shows how dangerous and heartbreaking gun violence is, why it matters, and how people can stand up and make communities safer. Dr. Kurt guided us through the process by giving clear expectations and making sure we stayed focused and on track with our message.
WORLD LITERATURE
For our propaganda poster we were meant o find an issue that isn't talked about enough or is something tat we find true to our heart and want to make a change about it. Our propaganda poster is supposed have 2 images, a slogan, a clear representation on what kind of audience you are referring to and a paragraph on why you chose this and to go into detail about your poster.
Our PSA is about our chosen conflict that we chose in our groups that we wanted to spread awareness about. The video should close to 30 seconds to a minute long.
My Propaganda Poster connects to our Guernica project because in our ELA class, we recently learned how propaganda is used to influence and persuade people. For our assignment, we had to choose a specific conflict, then create a poster that included at least two strong images and one catchy slogan to send a clear and powerful message towards our direct audience.
CHEMISTRY
For our Chemistry part of the Guernica project, we were asked to give an artist statement on our drawing. Including the questions like what part of the Guernica was our drawing inspired by, what elements were present throughout our drawing, what colors are included and what is the scientific explanation of our emotions and their functions in our body.
Our Emotion Painting connects to our project because in our Chemistry class, we recently learned about neurotransmitters and how they affect the human body. This inspired my group member, Ceniya, and me to focus on the emotion of sadness, using Picasso’s Guernica as our inspiration. We chose a powerful scene from the painting to recreate, the woman crying Cortisol and Serotonin tears while holding her dead baby, to show the deep emotional and chemical impact of grief.
