This month ive learned a lot about abstraction and its use in Modernist art. From what I have learned, I understand people started using more abstraction after the invention of the camera. The point was to combat the modern photo, which removed the emotion in the image. It also influenced more creative and experimental painting techniques. With other cultures, such as the Native Americans, their abstract techniques contained more realistic figures. Abstract art could be related to math with the use of shapes and data can be used to create abstract art because of values. Different colors have different values, which will give different data, which then can be used to create abstract art. Personally I like more expressive work.
Borax is a salt that dissolves in water and forms crystals, it contains the elements: Boron, Oxygen, and, Sodium. The reason that hot water is used, is to dissolve the Borax solution. In class we used a combination of hot water and Borax to create a homogenous mixture to achieve supersaturated-ness. On the other hand while the water cools, the solution forms crystals. My sculpture is dynamic because I used two differently colored pipe cleaners to construct an intracate model, replicating a rose.
In art this year I learned about how to use charcoal.
In art this year we drew perspective which uses geometry.
I just think about what I need to do visualize it and create a plan to complete it.
We learned about Seurat. (the artist :3)
