My class performed "Don't Fear the Reaper" for our One-Act Competition. A one-act play is a short drama that takes place in a single act, rather than being divided into multiple acts. "Don't Fear the Reaper" is a one-act play by Eddie Zipperer, that is a dark comedy where the Grim Reaper spirals through absurd encounters after losing his job. The play blends satire and fantasy to reimagine death with humor and humanity. I played God and won best actress in the competition. Before I got the role, I had to go through an audition process. I originally wanted the role of the game show host, but got the main role of God instead.

For the performing arts trip, I received the opportunity to go to New York for a Broadway Experience. This year, dance, theater, and a couple of chorus students worked together to perform the musical FAME. As a celebration for the completion and the success of the musical, the performing arts decided to take the students to New York. Although I wasn't in the musical, I helped out with set building and putting it together; which allowed me to go. The trip lasted from March 25 - 28, 2024. While in New York, we were able to explore Times Square and even got a chance to ride the Subway a few times. We also selected and saw Broadway shows. I chose Moulin Rouge. Our theater class got to do theater workshops as well, and the dancers got to take dance classes at Alvin Ailey and Steps on Broadway. We also got to take the ferry to Staten Island to see the Statue of Liberty and do some shopping. I had so much fun during the trip and I'm so grateful that I got to experience this. Thank you Ms. West!
