Learning about ancient civilizations helps us see where so many of today’s ideas, inventions, and beliefs come from. For example, the Greeks gave us democracy, the Romans helped shape laws and architecture, and ancient Egypt showed us early advances in math, medicine, and writing. When we study these achievements, we realize that modern life is built on the knowledge of the past. Also, understanding cultural legacies, like art, religion, language, and traditions, helps us respect different cultures today. It shows us that every culture has contributed something important to the world. Instead of judging or ignoring cultures that are different from ours, learning about ancient civilizations helps us stay curious and open-minded. By appreciating where things come from, we can better protect and celebrate the cultures that still carry those legacies. Whether it’s through preserving languages, respecting traditions, or supporting cultural sites, we’re helping make sure that the diversity of our world doesn’t get lost.

For this project we were assigned groups to film a movie. I worked with Fiero Simpson, Marisol Atencio, Titus Smith, and Andrew Sugarman. Our movie took place in Egypt, and was called The Downfall of Cleopatra. My character was Caesar. And I was also the editor. This movie took a couple of weeks to plan and a couple of weeks to film. I think we did a great job with it, and I had a great time making it. It felt like we were making an actual movie because we had real camera gear. And I think that the costumes really brought the characters to life. The overall experience was nice, and I hope to do something similar again sometime.
