State Prep: The St. Francis Way

St. Francis DECA is gearing up for SCDC with award-winning performances and innovative projects. This small but mighty chapter is proving that teamwork and determination lead to success.
This past District 6 Conference, held on December 14th, 2024, the St. Francis DECA Chapter competed with hundreds of other DECA members. Though small, they took home some BIG awards that reflect their perseverance and hard work. St. Francis DECA’s President, Courtney Cole, took home 1st place overall in Hotel & Management. St. Francis’s Vice President, Katherine Peck, earned a medal in her Role Play 2 in Quick Service Restaurant Management. First-timer Reagen Sirovina took 2nd overall in Principles of Marketing, the largest category! Long-time member Hana Nabih took home medals for both roleplays and Co-Social Media Manager Sofia Garcia earned medals for her Exam and Role Play 2.
To furthermore prepare for SCDC, St. Francis DECA members have not only focused on their competitive aspects, but on their project developments too. All members of St. Francis DECA have been tasked to take on one of the prepared events for DECA, from Integrated Marketing Campaign Events to Entrepreneurship Events.
As St. Francis DECA prepares for SCDC’s exams and role plays, weekly plannings are sketched out in their advisors calendar. They have dedicated specific days to work on role play scenarios and exam preparation. Some members are also participating in the Economic Written Segment alongside their normal event. 3 members are running for a State Officer position to further spread the joy of wanting to be a DECA member. Although we can’t look into a future ball and see who takes home the glass, one thing is for sure: St. Francis DECA members are not slowing down anytime soon. How will we take advantage of the rest of the year? By Being The One!
Throughout the school year so far, St. Francis DECA members have been working hard on developing their projects and implementing many outside activities into their ideas. Some examples of these project developments are clothing drives, fundraising events, and even one group hosting a mini-districts at Deer Creek Intermediate School! By collaborating with others, reaching out, and devoting break time to work on projects, St. Francis DECA is sure that their efforts will not go in vain!
