Menomonie DECA’s annual Mr. Menomonie men's pageant brought students together for a fun and festive competition, where contestants showcased their style, talent, and dedication to supporting meaningful charities.
The Menomonie DECA chapter hopes you all had happy holidays!
Over the busy holiday season, our chapter president, Rachel Riepl, and our Vice President of Community Service, Callie Travis, dedicated their time and focus to our annual charity event, Mr. Menomonie. This event is a men’s pageant where contestants choose a charity to raise money for individually and all earnings are donated to the charity of the winner’s choice. Junior and senior boys volunteer to compete and win the crown.
The pageant consists of three rounds. The first round is an introduction round. The contestant shares the reasoning behind his charity decision and is then asked to draw a piece of paper from a hat and answer the question written on it. A possible question is, “Where do you see yourself in 10 years?” The boys will then exit the stage and change into their outfits for the next round.
The second round is a best-dressed round. Each contestant will enter the stage in their best professional attire. Bonus points are also awarded for holiday festivities. Many boys wore reindeer antlers and Santa hats to show their Christmas spirit. While they show off their outfits, the emcee will share some fun facts about the contestant. When they are finished, they will tell their best pickup line to the audience and judges, and then get ready to show off their dancing moves.
The third and final round is the dance-off. Each contestant is paired with a varsity dance team member and perform a routine that is about a minute long to a christmas song of their choice. These pairs work with each other during a couple of weeks leading up to the show to perfect their dances. Judges will score the routine on difficulty, knowledge, and entertainment.
After each round is complete, the judges as well as our score-counters will add up all scores, including who raised the most money for their charity. The highest scorer wins the competition and is crowned by the previous Mr. Menomonie.
This year, we raised over $2,300 to donate to the winning charity, American Cancer Society.
