This webinar served as a follow-up to the 2019 Summer Institute for K-8 mathematics, NC Math 1, 2, and 3. We discussed using multiple points of data as a means for focusing on planning on specific standards. A quick overview and review of the Lesson Planning Protocol, used in our 2019 Summer Institutes, was shared to review standards and assist in planning for professional development. The webinar should aid school/district leaders in determining a plan to use resources to meet the pedagogical and content needs of teachers.

## K-12 Mathematics & Advanced Learning Webinar

## Advanced Math Webinar with presentation and FAQ for SB500

The NC Department of Public Instruction, in conjunction with mathematics teachers, coaches, and curriculum leaders across NC public school districts worked to create a resource document to support districts with the effective implementation of the requirements of the Advanced Courses in Mathematics legislation, *SB500/Session Law 2019-120/* NCGS § 115C-81.36. This Implementation Guidance document overviews the components of the legislation and the impact on the Local Education Agencies (LEAs). It also provides ideas, sample resources, and an updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document.

To provide ongoing support, the NCDPI team has established a Google folder with these resources and additional support documents shared by NC school districts.

The team hosted a webinar to review materials and answer district questions. The recording of the webinar " Understanding the Changes to the Advanced Math Course Enrollment Legislation (SL2019-120)" can be accessed by clicking on the title above. As a reminder, the legislation can be reviewed at the NC General Assembly site.
