Sick Bay

The College Sick Bay is available from

7.30am to 2.30pm.

Sickness at school

If pupils become ill while at school, they are to request permission from their class teacher to attend the School Sick Bay. Students and parents are asked to understand that whilst all care will be shown to each student, the Sick Bay is not a medical facility. Once students are initially treated, they will either be returned to class or parents will be requested to collect the student at the earliest convenience.

Where sickness or injury occurs, parents will be notified so that transport may be arranged, or if the injury warrants medical treatment and the parents cannot be contacted, the school will organise treatment through the Ambulance Service. It is expected that the College Office will be supplied with the contact details of a relative or friend as an alternative contact in the event that a parent is unavailable.

Consent to Dispense Medication form

Where medicines are prescribed, the Senior School Support Officer is to be informed in all cases. All medication is required to be secured, clearly labelled and dispensed from Sick Bay. No medication will be given to a student without the written permission of a parent/guardian. A Consent to Dispense Medication Form, available from the school office and College website, must be completed indicating the date, time of administration, name of student, type of medication and dosage required. Any special medical condition should be notified to the school through the Senior School Support Officer.

Parents are advised that because of legal implications schools are no longer permitted to administer any medication including headache tablets unless the parent/carer has completed and submitted a Consent to Dispense Medication form (available on the school website or from the College office) and supplied the medication in a container, clearly marked with the child’s name.
