Diverse Learning Needs

St Benedict’s Catholic College recognises the diverse learning needs of our students, which is demonstrated through the College’s ongoing commitment to assist and support students with additional educational needs within an inclusive setting.

The Learning Support Team, in collaboration with parents and teachers, facilitate the integration of students with additional educational needs into the academic and social life of the College.

At St Benedict’s Catholic College we:

  • provide professional development for relevant staff in order to assist teachers to cater for students with additional educational needs.

  • inform teachers of the specific goals to meet those students’ learning needs in the best way.

  • identify students who may participate in Life Skills, these students are supported within an inclusive environment, where appropriate adjustments are made to the classroom program.

  • assist teachers in meeting the individual educational needs of students in the classroom setting through the provision of support from a teacher’s aide.

  • provide teachers with student profiles, so teachers are best able to provide appropriate adjustments to classroom programs in order to meet the needs of their students.

  • provide resources to teachers so they can best support the learning needs of students in the classroom.
