Assessment is the ongoing process of learning where students are on the way to becoming independent and successful readers and writers. Both formative and summative assessment play a key role in determining where students are in their learning and to inform the next steps to move the learners forward.
The Assessment and Instruction Framework shows the flow of formative assessment - assessment ‘for’, ‘of’ and ‘as’ learning that allows teachers to use ongoing formative data that is collected daily, to assess and inform teaching for the next day. The assessment and instruction framework depicts that data today is instruction tomorrow.
