Student Reflection
The scripture passage I am doing is ‘The Birth of Jesus,’ (Matthew 1:18-25). The theme I chose was a normal chapter in any mother’s life when they give birth to their child and the great delight they are given.
As my mother gave birth to me, as a first child, she started motherhood and realised the meaning of living and the joy a child can bring. I relate this artwork to me, because from the time I was born, I received kind-hearted smiles that illuminated the room.
This scripture deepens my faith because I envision myself one day experiencing the joy of childbirth like any other mother, and especially like Mary, the mother of Jesus. I also visualised that I will go through the same emotions Mary endured with Jesus, those joys and struggles, in my own life of being a mother.
My inspiration was my mother, and it is my own original work. My intention is to explain to others that motherhood is to show the love you feel for the child you carried. The media I used was mainly pencil to sketch it and water colours to add depth to my canvas.
