Student Reflection
My artwork is inspired by the scripture passage from Luke, Chapter 2:7, ‘Mary and the Annunciation’. It is an abstract portrait of Mary and is meant to look like she is looking at baby Jesus for the first time. In my portrait, Mary appears to be feeling joy, happiness and shock that she has given birth to the King of the world. Mary is feeling amazed and happy that it is over and she now has to look after the King.
The background was made using different shades of yellow, orange, and pink oil pastels. Her face was also made using oil pastels, and the robe and shirt was created with washi tape cut into the right shapes. Mary is like my own mum as she shows joy, happiness and love for me, each moment of my life.
