Señora Sawan

¡Hola!
I'm Señora Anna Sawan, and I have the joy of teaching Spanish to 4th and 5th grade students. This 2025–2026 school year is my eighth year at Chickering! 

Here are a few fun facts about me:
🎶 I come from a big, loud, and proud Cuban-American family! I grew up with music all around me. My dad has been in a band since before I was born and still plays today. I love going to his gigs whenever I can! I’m happiest with a cafecito in hand and classic Latin music playing, especially favorites like Gloria Estefan and Celia Cruz. 🌍 While I haven’t yet visited Cuba, I've lived in Spain three times—Valladolid, Bilbao, and San Fernando. In Bilbao, I taught English at a local high school, and in San Fernando, I taught English at an elementary school in El Puerto de Santa María. I love returning to Spain to reconnect with friends and former students. 

✈️ I love traveling to explore new cultures, languages, and perspectives. Each summer I try to discover somewhere new, and I collect postcards from every place I visit as small reminders of my adventures.
