Fluency Folders will be sent home at the beginning of the week (Monday) and returned at the end of the week (Friday). This will include some type of reading passage and sight words
About fluency folder:
To help with reading fluency, I will be sending home these practice sheets for your child to practice. They should change out weekly.
It is a minute timed test, which should be done nightly with their progress recorded for each day. Please write down their WPM (words per minute) after each time they read. Let’s work together to achieve their reading goals!
Directions for the timed fluency practice:
Set a time for one minute (they are easily found on cell phones, microwaves, ovens, etc. or you can simply just watch the clock for a minute if needed.) Once you have set the timer or watching the clock, have you child see how many letters or words they can get in one minute and record their progress – WPM. If they make a mistake, note it, but allow them to continue on. Once the timer signals after one minute, have your child keep their finger on the letter or word that they stopped on and circle that letter or word, or even draw a line where they stopped. They should practice every day to see their progress! Record the score that they got and then you can go revisit the letters or words that were difficult for them. Please let me know if you have any questions!
