Welcome to Dover Middle School's Social Studies Website!
Department Staff
Julie Fahy
I have been honored to teach social studies at Dover Middle School for over 24 years. I grew up here and graduated from Dover High School in 1994! Dover Tigers, FOREVER!
I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Regis College in Massachusetts. My alma mater is 12 miles west of Boston, which is why I am a Boston Red Sox fan.
I live in Newton with my husband and two sons. In my free time, I enjoy walking, yoga, and playing softball.
Kyle Madison
It has been my privilege to teach 7th and 8th grade Social Studies at Dover Middle School since 2012-2013. I’ve received the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts in History from Rutgers University, Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University, and Master's in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University. In addition to teaching, I coach the DHS Cross-Country and DMS Track and Field teams. Outside of school, I love to spend time outdoors, whether hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, skiing, or just relaxing.
Brian Malmgren
Welcome! My name is Brian Malmgren, and I am thrilled to be joining the Dover Middle School team this year. After graduating from The College of New Jersey, I began my service in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Georgia. Over the next four and a half years, I held various positions in Georgia, Hawaii, and Delaware. Following my time as a Professor of Military Science with the ROTC program at Delaware State University, I moved to Washington State to begin my teaching career.
While completing my Master’s in Adult and Continuing Education at Rutgers University, I returned to New Jersey, where I taught in Hackettstown before coming to Dover Middle School. Outside of work, I enjoy playing sports, attending live music events, and exploring the area with my two dogs.
Candice Pastor
My name is Candice Pastor, and I am thrilled to be joining the Dover Middle School team this year as a Special Education Teacher in the In-Class Resource role. Teaching has been my passion since the age of ten, and I am so excited to finally be teaching so close to home!
I bring 16 years of experience to the classroom, having started my career in Newark before spending 13 years with the Montclair Public Schools as both a Special Education and Restorative Justice teacher. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from East Stroudsburg University and my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
While at ESU, I played softball for four years, and my love for sports continues today—you can always find me rooting for the Mets, Giants, Liberty, and Devils! Outside of school, I enjoy watching crime shows, getting lost in a good mystery book, and spending time with my two wonderful children and the best basset hound anyone could ask for. I am looking forward to a fantastic year at DMS!
Joshua Sabol
After graduating from Messiah University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, I began my teaching career and, in 2002, joined the faculty of Dover Middle School. Since then, I have taught both seventh and eighth-grade social studies. Seeking to further my professional development, I earned a Master of Arts in Special Education from Centenary University in 2011.
Teaching is in my DNA, as my parents each spent over 35 years in education. I am passionate about middle school education and am particularly interested in pre-Civil War American and presidential history. In addition to my classroom responsibilities, I currently serve as one of the building’s Technology Liaisons and the 8th-Grade Trip Coordinator.
I enjoy traveling and reading the latest historical scholarship. I live in nearby Sussex County with my wife, who is also an educator, and our two children, who are currently in high school.
Jake Wollman
I have taught 7th and 8th grade Social Studies at Dover Middle School for the past six years. I received a Bachelor of Arts from Kean University and I recently graduated with a Master of American History from Gettysburg College. Besides walking at parks and researching for work, most of my free time is spent watching soccer or reading at home.
