I'd like you each to interview me within 5 minutes. You will have time to plan your topic and questions- I'd like to challenge you to think of something which does NOT relate to your current topic or idea of your documentary. This can be recorded to be added to your practical research.

- Ask permission to film them, get their consent and fill in the consent form
- Tell them about yourself and your aim of the documentary, make it clear what the topic is about
- Let them know where you plan on sharing the footage, this can be in the consent form
- Get to know them as a person and let them tell their story, ensure they feel important as those who are appreciated will always do more.
- If the lighting or camera isn't right be sure to communicate this and ask them to move or be patient with you while you fix it
- Don't just read from the list of questions, listen to them and stem questions from their answers
- If they get stuck or are struggling to answer ask them to elaborate on their response.
- Thank them for their time. Be sure to talk to them off camera to make them feel valued

Be sure to capture photos or short videos of your filming process similar to video diaries.

The expectation is to document your process of practical skills e.g: setting up equipment, shots and show how you direct, how you problem solve IF any problems occur. As well as demonstrating understanding of the methods used to create the short film. And reflecting on your process, what went well, what didn't, what you could do to improve.

It could be that your actors didn't turn up on time so that pushed production back by a few hours, the equipment played up and you needed to sort it before you could film. Note what problems you came across and how you solved the issues.

At this point you are expected to start filling out a post-production log (Editing Log) in EITHER a WRITTEN OR VIDEO Form (I prefer Video )

A post- production log ; is an account, similar to a diary entry/ production logs where you reflect on all the problems, solutions, alterations and so on, that you faced throughout the editing process, think of it like a BTS (behind the scenes) video. It could be that your footage wouldn't play, corrupted files, or the software being slow and messing with your computer... how did you deal with the problem and what was the solution.
