Welcome to First Grade!
I’m so excited to begin a new school year and can’t wait to meet all of my wonderful new students!

This year marks my 19th year teaching in the Del Mar Union School District. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of teaching both Kindergarten (3 years) and First Grade (16 years). Ever since I was young, I dreamed of becoming a teacher, and I feel incredibly fortunate to do what I love each day.

I earned my degree in Child Development from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and in 2012 completed a three-year master’s program at San Diego State University to become a Reading Specialist. In addition to my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, I hold a Reading Specialist Certificate and a Reading Credential, and I’m trained to serve as a Reading Coach. I also enjoy my role as a Math Lead Teacher, where I have the opportunity to collaborate with and support fellow educators through math professional development.

Outside of school, I live in Rancho Bernardo with my husband and our 12-year-old daughter, Thea. We enjoy spending time together as a family, reading, and being outdoors.

I’m looking forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, growth, laughter, and memorable experiences. It’s a privilege to be part of your child’s first-grade journey, and I can’t wait for an amazing year together!

I believe that children and adults are lifelong learners and one of the most important roles of educators and parents is to promote a love for learning. Children thrive in environments where they are encouraged to investigate and problem solve. The teacher's role is to provide questions, tools, and experiments that engage the child's mind.

Life Outside the Hangar

Outside of school, I love spending time with my family- my husband, Tyson, and our 12-year-old daughter, Thea. We enjoy trips to the beach, creating art projects, and playing family board games together. My favorite hobbies are reading and gardening, and on many evenings, you'll find me relaxing in the garden with a good book!
