Welcome to First Grade!
I’m so excited to kick off a new school year and can’t wait to meet all of my wonderful new students!
This will be my 18th year teaching in the Del Mar Union School District. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of teaching both Kindergarten (3 years) and First Grade (15 years). Ever since I was young, I dreamed of becoming a teacher, and I feel so lucky to be doing what I love every day.
I earned my degree in Child Development from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and in 2012, I completed a three-year master’s program at San Diego State University to become a Reading Specialist. In addition to my Multiple Subject Credential, I hold a Reading Specialist Certificate, a Reading Credential, and am trained to serve as a Reading Coach. I’m also a Math Lead Teacher and have the opportunity to support and lead math trainings for fellow educators.
Outside of school, I live in Rancho Bernardo with my husband and our 11-year-old daughter, Thea.
I’m looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, growth, and fun!

I believe that children and adults are lifelong learners and one of the most important roles of educators and parents is to promote a love for learning. Children thrive in environments where they are encouraged to investigate and problem solve. The teacher's role is to provide questions, tools, and experiments that engage the child's mind.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family including my husband, Tyson, and our 11 year old daughter, Thea. We love trips to the beach, art projects, and family board games. My favorite hobbies include running, reading, and gardening. In the evenings, I can be found sitting in the garden with a good book!
