Educational Background and Professional Experience:

I attended the University of California at San Diego, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Human Development (2002), followed by my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master of Education Degree (2003). I taught fourth grade for two years at Florence Elementary School in Hillcrest (San Diego Unified School District) before joining the Sage Canyon fourth grade team. This is my twenty-fourth year of teaching, as well as my eleventh year in third grade.

What to Expect in Third Grade

Hello, and welcome to third grade! I can't wait to meet my new students and begin getting to know each of their unique interests, strengths, and talents. I love that I get to be a part of growing a community of learners that feel safe enough to encourage and challenge one another to be better thinkers, problem solvers, and citizens. I value empathy and integrity, and I love to have fun while helping kids foster their independence in a supportive environment.

There are so many wonderful things to look forward to in third grade! We'll be exploring adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers, multiplying and dividing, fractions, and algebraic expressions and equations. We'll be writing exciting narratives, informative articles, and convincing opinion pieces.

Life Outside of the Coyote Den

I love exploring San Diego with my two daughters, Emilyn (7th grade) and Cora (5th grade). My favorite ways to unwind are walking in nature, curling up with a good book, or sitting by my fire pit as the sun goes down and the stars come out.
