What is this resource about?

  • Students will learn about some of the various career opportunities for students in Digital Technologies. In particular there is a focus on ways in which female students can access resources to encourage their consideration of a career in an IT field.

  • The exploration of the day to day work of three female professionals in an industry focussed on Digital Technologies is explored.

  • Hear from a panel of female professionals about the various pathways to a career in Digital Technologies. Female students from three secondary schools question the professionals

  • Discover examples of classroom activities and discussion topics that broadens understanding of a career in Digital Technologies.

  • Provide starting points for further resources.

  • Discover relevant resources students can access to expand their knowledge of career options in this industry.

Who made this?

This resource was developed in 2021- 22 by professional learning providers and teachers at Digital Learning and Teaching Victoria (DLTV), the subject association for Digital Technologies teaching in Victoria. It was created in conjunction with the Australian Centre for Career Education and the Department of Education Victoria

This resource comprises;

  • A webinar recording of three female professionals currently working in the Digital Technologies field. The professionals are interviewed by students from across catholic, independent and government sectors.

  • A webinar of professional careers teachers discussing the barriers and successes they have when encouraging female students in particular to consider a career in the Digital Technologies field

  • Comprehensive teacher resources including a teachers guide, Lesson plans and student worksheet.

  • Ideas and prompts for further research

  • Further resources focussing on organisations that are specifically designing to support and encourage female students considering IT related careers

  • Posters for classroom display.
