About Mr. Maloney

Hello! I am so excited for another fantastic year of band here in District 95! Just to let you know a little about myself, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education from Saint Xavier University, and have been teaching in District 95 since the fall of 2016. I am currently the band director of the Brook Park Band (5th grade), and the co-director of the S.E. Gross 6th and 7th Grade Bands with Ms. Pilson. While not instructing students, I play my tuba in the Southwest Community Concert Band, play acoustic guitar, and add to my ever-growing collection of vinyl records. Feel free to contact me at any point!

Winter concert details

Winter Assemblies

Our Winter Band Assemblies will be on Friday December 6th. Star Band will perform at 10:05am and Super Band will perform at 1:35pm. Both assemblies take place in the new gym at BP and there is no dress code. All students should remember to bring their instruments, books, folders, and stands that day! I will let you know if family members are welcome at the assemblies in next week's email.

Winter Concert

The District 95 Music Department Winter Concert is on Wednesday December 11th at 6pm in the new gym at BP. Super Band will start the event and Star Band will perform second. The SE Gross 6th Grade Band will then perform to close our concert. The dress code is "Sunday Best". I usually tell the students to wear something they would wear to a nice family party, and to not dress in sweatpants, gym shoes, etc.

Following our concert after a brief intermission will be the SE Gross 7th and 8th Grade Bands, Jazz Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Chorus. Their concert will begin at 7pm.

5th Grade Band students need to stay at least through the 6th grade performance and are definitely welcome to stay during the second concert of the evening! The 7pm concert will also count towards practice minutes in the spring!
