CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE STATUS
Educational Assistants in Central Point School District 6 are considered to be CLASSIFIED employees. Classified employees function under the District's Classified Contract and have different work expectations than CERTIFIED employees. For example, CLASSIFIED employees have a different school schedule/calendar than CERTIFIED employees. It is up to each individual employee to understand the terms of the contract. If you want clarification with the contract, you may seek assistance from your classified union representative. Your school's secretary should be able to tell you who your representative is. If you have additional questions about being a CLASSIFIED employee, please contact the District Office and speak with the Personnel Secretary 541-494-6238.
JOB DUTIES
As an Educational assistant, you will be asked to perform a variety of tasks and fill many different types of roles within the school/district. It is always up to your school's administrator to decide what tasks need to be accomplished by educational assistants and which educational assistants are best suited for the task. For example, although you may have been hired with the intention of being an assistant at a particular grade level in the classroom, different needs may arise that require the administrator to make changes with your job duties at any given time. If you ever feel like you are incapable of performing a task you are being asked to do, it is up to you to communicate your concerns to your supervisor/administrator.
