Middle Years Programme

The Middle Years Programme – Grades 7 - 10

DIS offers the International Baccalaureate's Middle Year Programme in Grades 7 - 10. Qualified subject specific teachers teach students at each year level.

As an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) World School DIS use the MYP as a pedagogical framework to deliver the Australian national curriculum.

The Australian national curriculum describes what students should know and be able to do at different stages of learning and provides a clear basis for program planning.

Students are assessed using the rigorous international standards set by the International Baccalaureate Organisation.

The MYP requires student study eight disciplines. They are:

  • Language and literature
  • Language acquisition
    • Portugeuse
    • Indonesian
  • Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • Individuals and societies
  • Design
  • Health and physical education
  • The arts – visual and performing

Grade 10 students are also required to complete the Personal Project and meet the school’s community and service requirements.
