98% of our students met our 3rd Trimester Challenge of getting to class on time! We had our 3rd Trimester Celebration today where students were able to choose what fun activity they wanted to participate in.
8th Grade Save the Dates/Dance: The end of the school year is coming quickly and we are excited to celebrate our 8th grade's final months with us. Please review our upcoming important dates and complete this Form if you would be willing to help with our 8th grade dance.

Graduation Diplomas/Pronunciation: 8th grade parents, please complete this Form indicating what name you would like to have on your child's diploma and how you would like for us to pronounce their name at graduation. The deadline for this is next Friday, May 15th.
Yard Sign Deliveries: Staff are excited to deliver graduation yard signs to all of our 8th graders. Deliveries will start being made the week of May 17th.
Kirk's Players: The Kirk Players will offer free theater workshops for children ages 7-12 at West Oak Middle School! Here is the flyer for more information.
Kindness Day: We are excited to celebrate District 76’s All District Kindness Day on Friday, May 22, 2026! Diamond Lake, West Oak Intermediate, and West Oak Middle School students will participate in Kindness Day activities right here at the West Oak Campus. The day will be filled with fun, meaningful experiences that promote kindness, connection, and community across our district. Students will engage in a variety of activities alongside peers from Diamond Lake, helping us come together in celebration of the values that make our district strong. We can’t wait for this joyful day!
High 5 Friday Celebration: We are excited to share that the Countryside Fire Protection District will be joining District 76 on the last day of school, Friday, May 29th for a special “High 5 Friday” celebration! Firefighters will help welcome students to school as we celebrate an incredible year together with music, bubbles, smiles, High 5's and lots of school spirit. We are grateful for the outstanding partnership and support the Countryside Fire Department has shown our schools throughout the year and look forward to ending the year on a fun and positive note for our students.
Mundelein Jr. Police Academy: The Mundelein Police Department will be having a free Junior Police Academy this summer. Here is the form if your child is interested. It is limited to a maximum of 30 students and the deadline is May 29th. Students that are selected will be contacted by Officer Dunn and notified of next steps.
MHS Cheerleading: All 8th grade students planning to participate in Mundelein High School's cheerleading team are invited to attend their tryouts in May.
Carmel Cheerleading: All 8th graders that are planning to attend Carmel Catholic High School next year are invited to attend their cheerleading tryouts. Please review this flyer for more information.
Diamond Awards: New to this year, we ask families to complete this nomination Form if they would like to recognize a staff member they feel are going above and beyond with what they do in the classroom, school, or district. Please consider spreading the positivity bys highlighting the great work that staff our doing in our district.
D76 Kindness Day: Our district will celebrate Kindness Day on May 22nd. Please see more information below about how we will recognize and celebrate kindness throughout our school community.
PTO Annual Meeting: You are invited to join us at our annual meeting on Tuesday, May19th, from 6-7:00pm at the Diamond Lake Elementary School Library. The Parent Teacher organization recognizes all current parents and staff as members. We would love to have more community members engaged. Would you like a better idea of what the PTO does? Is there a skill that you would be able to use for the benefit of the schools? This would be a great meeting to attend. At this meeting we will be voting on next year’s board and committee positions. Nominations are now open. Would you like to serve as a committee chair or as part of the executive board for the PTO? Do you have opinions about how the PTO can support our students and schools? There is always room for more. Nominate yourself or someone you know here.
Next Dine Out: Our final dine out will be McTeacher Night on Thursday, May 14th, from 4-7:00pm at 151 N. Lake Street in Mundelein.. Sparkles and Grimace will be there, and your favorite teachers will be selling pies for cash and tips. Make sure you bring cash. If you are interested in volunteering check out our volunteer page.
Staff Appreciation Week: Has been a huge success. Thank you to all the parents who recognized our staff's hard work this year through wish list donations, writing thank you cards, bringing in breakfast, or donating to the PTO. I've attached a few pictures of all the fun.
