Our 8th graders went to a Milwaukee Brewers game and interacted with a variety of science demonstrations during their annual Weather Day!
Members of our Howl and Brew Club went to Lamb's Farm to learn about how to start up their own businesses.
All of our students had an amazing time today as we celebrated the "Day of the Child," with food, activities, and a mariachi band!
Our PBIS team is almost done with their 3rd Trimester Challenge with the goal of getting our students to class on time! Students can get no more than one tardy over 10 school days. We look forward to celebrating our students that meet this challenge on May 8th!
We have begun our ABC countdown until the end of the year. We encourage our students and staff to participate in these days as we celebrate a great school year!
8th Grade Save the Dates/Dance: The end of the school year is coming quickly and we are excited to celebrate our 8th grade's final months with us. Please review our upcoming important dates and complete this Form if you would be willing to help with our 8th grade dance.
Attendance: Here is our student attendance from this past week. Our goal is for at least 94% of our students to be in attendance every day. Thank you for your help in supporting this.

STAR Testing: Our 3rd, and final, round of STAR testing will be next week. Our students and staff have been working hard throughout the year, so please encourage your child to try their best on these exams. Students will be taking the STAR Math exam on Wednesday, May 6th, and the STAR Reading exam on May 7th.
Kirk's Players: The Kirk Players will offer free theater workshops for children ages 7-12. We are excited that new location for the workshops will be West Oak Middle School! Here is the flyer for more information.
Yard Sign Deliveries: Staff are excited to deliver graduation yard signs to all of our 8th graders. Deliveries will start being made the week of May 17th.
Mundelein Jr. Police Academy: The Mundelein Police Department will be having a free Junior Police Academy this summer. Here is the form if your child is interested. It is limited to a maximum of 30 students and the deadline is May 29th. Students that are selected will be contacted by Officer Dunn and notified of next steps.
MHS Cheerleading: All 8th grade students planning to participate in Mundelein High School's cheerleading team are invited to attend their tryouts in May.
Carmel Cheerleading: All 8th graders that are planning to attend Carmel Catholic High School next year are invited to attend their cheerleading tryouts. Please review this flyer for more information.
Summer Band: Our annual West Oak Summer Band will be available for our 5th-7th graders and will be held at West Oak Middle School from June 15th - July 2nd. We will be meeting Monday-Thursdays from 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM. Please fill out this Form to sign your student up for this amazing enrichment camp! The fee for this camp is $75.00. Cash or check (Made out to “West Oak Middle School”) is accepted and can be turned into the main office at West Oak Intermediate or Middle School. **Registration will be closing on May 1st** If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! I hope to see your student in the summer!
Summer Exploration Camp: We are excited to announce that Summer Exploration Camp registration is open and is available to all D76 students K-8th grade. Summer Exploration Camp will run Monday through Thursday, June 3rd-July 2nd, from 8-11:30am at Diamond Lake School. There is no cost and transportation will be provided. Diamond Awards: New to this year, we ask families to complete this nomination Form if they would like to recognize a staff member they feel are going above and beyond with what they do in the classroom, school, or district. Please consider spreading the positivity bys highlighting the great work that staff our doing in our district.
D76 Kindness Day: Our district will celebrate Kindness Day on May 22nd. Please see more information below about how we will recognize and celebrate kindness throughout our school community.
Staff Appreciation Week: Staff Appreciation Week will be the week of May 4th. School staff have been working hard all year so please help us 'Treat' them to a great week.
PTO Annual Meeting: You are invited to join us at our annual meeting on Tuesday, May19th, from 6-7:00pm at the Diamond Lake Elementary School Library. The Parent Teacher organization recognizes all current parents and staff as members. We would love to have more community members engaged. Would you like a better idea of what the PTO does? Is there a skill that you would be able to use for the benefit of the schools? This would be a great meeting to attend. At this meeting we will be voting on next year’s board and committee positions. Nominations are now open. Would you like to serve as a committee chair or as part of the executive board for the PTO? Do you have opinions about how the PTO can support our students and schools? There is always room for more. Nominate yourself or someone you know here.
Next Dine Out: Our final dine out will be McTeacher Night on Thursday, May 14th, from 4-7:00pm at 151 N. Lake Street in Mundelein.. Sparkles and Grimace will be there, and your favorite teachers will be selling pies for cash and tips. Make sure you bring cash. If you are interested in volunteering check out our volunteer page.
