Spring Break Next Week: Just a friendly reminder that Spring Break is next week! There will be no school from Monday, March 24 to Friday, March 28. We hope you and your family have a wonderful and relaxing break, filled with fun! Whether you are planning a trip, enjoying time at home, or simply taking a moment to recharge, we wish you a safe and happy week! D76 BPAC: Our district's Bilingual Parents Advisory Council will be having their next meeting on April 3rd from 6-7:00pm at Diamond Lake School. Here is the flyer for more information.
The Jungle Book: If you are looking for something fun to do over Spring Break, consider attending the play, "The Jungle Book." It will run from March 28th-30th at Mundelein High School. Please review the following flyer for more information.
5Essentials: A 5Essentials survey has been sent out to all parents. This survey is extremely important as it identifies how our school is doing in five crucial areas as identified on our Illinois State Report Card. We are in need of at least 20% of our parents to complete this survey and we are currently at 9%. We appreciate your time in taking this short survey.
SHS Healthy Transition: All 8th grade parents of future Stevenson High School students are asked to view this flyer and attend their April 8th event called, "Making a Healthy Transition to Stevenson."
Mini-Med School: We are offering our current 6th and 7th grade students a Mini-Medical School opportunity this summer from June 9th to July 2nd. There are 30 spots available, and they are on a first enroll, first served basis. This cost-free program is sponsored by FSCS Grant from University Center of Lake County in collaboration with Rosalind Franklin University. Lunch and transportation from West Oak Middle School to the University is included. We will be leaving WOMS each day at 11:30am and arriving at the University Center to have lunch, and then having classes from 1 pm to 3:30pm. Students will then be transported back to their homes around 4:00pm. At the end of the program students will have a graduation ceremony and receive a diploma. Here is the Form that was shared with students this week. If you would like for them to be part of this amazing opportunity you are able to sign them up as well.
College Visit Opportunity: We are currently coordinating a college visit to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday, April 5th, with the support of our FSCS Grant. This University is inviting Spanish-speaking students and their families to meet current students and faculty and to discover the many amazing reasons to be at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. During this time, students and families will be able to attend experiential workshops, hear a keynote speaker, engage with a student panel, and receive a campus tour. Here is the Form that was shared with all 7th and 8th grade students and here is a flyer with more information.
In order to go, it is MANDATORY that every student fill out this Form requested by the University.
Track: Our Track season is coming up soon and this sport offers a variety of events to participate in. D76 CARES: At D76, the well-being of our students and families is our top priority. Understanding the critical role mental health plays in student success, we have launched D76 CARES - a comprehensive initiative aimed at improving access to quality mental health services across our community. D76 CARES stands for Community, Advocacy, Resilience, Engagement, and Support. Treatment services are initially provided free of charge to district families for up to 8 sessions. FREE BOOKS!: Bernie’s Book Bank donated several different pieces of literature to West Oak Campus. During Parent Teacher Conferences, book tables will be set up at the front door of West Oak Intermediate School and West Oak Middle School. Don’t forget to stop by and pick up some great FREE reads for your children over Spring Break!
Summer School Registration: Summer Exploration Camp is filling up quickly! This year we look forward to offering summer learning opportunities to D76 students who are entering Kindergarten-8th Grade in August of 2025. Our Summer Exploration Camp is a fun way for students to engage in different activities, build relationships, socialize with their peers, and continue to develop academic skills.
