Welcome to Our Music room

K-5 Music

Prairie Grove Elementary students K-5 are able to engage in a very hands-on music program. Throughout the school year, students perform and explore music in a variety of ways.  Students make cross-curricular connections and connections to music through movement, activities, and games designed to be fun and engaging for children.  As students develop music literacy skills, they have access to a variety of instruments and technology to explore and create music of their own.  Students also have opportunities to perform for their peers in class, on stage, and during other favorite traditions such as our annual winter sing!  Families can also look forward to watching their children star in other special events such as Fine Arts Night, musicals, and “informances” (less formal and smaller music performances during the school day).

About me

Welcome to our music room!  My name is Corey Spella.  Over the past 20 years, I've had the honor of teaching music and directing choirs in our community's schools, at Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association, and my own private studio.  I love teaching students of all ages, abilities and learning styles, and I've loved partnering with my colleagues here at Prairie Grove Junior High and Elementary to serve our students for the last 17 years.
